Health and Therapy for Women Offers Cognitive Assessments to Objectively Measure a Women's Cognitive Performance
As part a women's psychological assessment it is standard practice to objectively check up on areas such as memory, attention, reasoning, and verbal ability—all cognitive abilities a client needs to function optimally in everyday life. This assessment is NOT like any test you have taken before - it’s not really a test—it’s a quick checkup on how a client is doing today, like a blood pressure cuff for your brain.
Why is Measuring Cognitive Health Important?
We all have a subjective idea of how our brains are doing—some days we feel “off” or have “brain fog,” while other days we feel like we can take on the world. But how much better are we on the good days? Are lifestyle or health changes making a difference? That’s where cognitive assessment comes in. By putting a number to these subjective feelings, we can discover what is causing the good days in order to have more of them. When a brain is performing at capacity, every activity during life will be easier, from remembering where a car is parked to computing numbers.
Cambridge Brain Sciences: An Engaging and Scientifically-Validated Cognitive Assessment Platform
Our practice uses Cambridge's leading cognitive assessment platform, to quickly measure brain health. We offer these measures to assess, monitor, and manage core areas of cognition to ensure that a client's treatment is on the right track.
The CBS Health tasks have been validated by decades of scientific research, and are proven to measure the most important aspects of cognition. Performance is directly linked with the areas of a client's brain being active, while accessing strengths and weaknesses. But more importantly, the tasks are fun, and only take 1.5 - 3 minutes each to complete. Now, not only will a client feel better, but can objectively track how their brain is responding to treatment.

Is This an IQ Test?
CBS Health assessments are not an IQ test! Think of it more like a blood pressure cuff for your brain. There’s no judgment, and the goal is progress over time, because the evaluation acknowledges that brain health changes from day to day. The assessment takes into account a client's cognitive performance is realted to and influenced by their current mental state of well-being and overall level of functioning. A comprehensive psychological evaluation should include some measure of cognitive assessments as a standard part of the overall assessment.
Are Cognitive Assessments Relevant to all clients?
Cognitive health affects almost every part of life. If a client is visiting a physican office to treat a specific ailment, it likely has a cognitive outcome—even conditions that have traditionally been seen as purely physical, such as pain, have cognitive effects. The individual is not thinking well if they are not feeling well. Cognitive assessments assist and offer mental health practitioners ways to identify how the brain can benefit from treatment and what methods can help improve treatment options.
Cambridge Brain Sciences sample reports are designed to be easy to read and understand. Reports become more valuable with each additional assessment, showing a client's progress and letting them now when significant changes occur.
